Mistakes that people often make in their feed-in tariffs

When you install a solar PV system, you become an electricity owner as your system will be generating electricity. You will be able to both consume and produce electricity and also you will be paid a solar feed-in tariff for the extra electricity generated by your system.
For reducing your electricity bill, you will definitely look for the power system that provides the highest solar feed-in tariff. But going for the highest feed-in tariff is not always the best option for making financial decisions.
Beware of artificially high solar feed-in tariffs
Talking about the feed-in tariffs, if it looks like a good plan for you, go for it because it might be good for you.
The reason behind this is that the market value for the electricity produced by rooftop solar power system is between 6 and 10 cents per kWh and it totally depends upon which state you are residing in or the location you live in.
It may seem low rates as compared to the amount paid for the electricity, but it comes along with the generation costs, consumption costs, and supply and demand as well.
So, if the value of your solar PV system is 6–10c/kWh then the power supply company will be offering you a higher feed-in tariff. This enables you to afford and pay you more than your solar PV system worth.
This also includes:
- Exorbitantly high rates — hiking the usage and supply rates in order to compensate for the higher solar feed-in tariffs.
- Limited time FiTs — The higher solar feed-in tariffs last for about 6–12 months, so after that period you will be receiving lower feed-in tariffs as compared to previous months.
- FiT depends on other factors — There are certain criteria that define whether the people get the feed-in tariff services or not. Just, for example, one criterion is that feed-in tariffs are available to customers who have got their solar panels from that company only.
There are more points to consider than the solar feed-in tariff
There are so many solar energy plans available in the market. So if you want to choose the best among them, then you have to consider more things rather than just looking at the solar feed-in tariffs. You can also look for the terms and conditions attached to the plans, their usage rate, and daily charges also the services they provide.
At Future Solar Wa, we believe in providing transparency in the prices and services that we provide to the customers so as they can maximize their savings.
One thing that is very clear is that, If you have a standard fit then your feed-in tariff will be less than what you are paying for the electricity. This means that exporting your extra electricity and earning the feed-in tariff is less effective than using your solar power and reducing the energy that you have to buy.
Use more solar and buy less electricity with a battery
By generating your own electricity, any extra solar power generated is exported to the grid. So by getting a solar battery, you can easily store excess electricity to use it further for household purposes. By doing this, you can save around 25% to 80% of your electricity bill. This helps in saving more on your electricity bills.
We provide several battery packages that are affordable and also compatible with your preferences. Our battery packages come with a warranty period and blackout protection at no extra cost involved.
