Are you thinking about switching to solar power for all your energy requirements for your home or business? Then the very first step is to get the right CEC- approved retailer as it always suggested to have Clean Energy Council approved retailers for a better installation process. And it is a true fact that we just can’t ignore. Do you want to know the reason behind it? Let’s discuss.

The CEC is the highest reference and is considered a priority factor on solar systems in Australia. It basically provides accreditations for your solar system after ensuring its quality, safety observation, and reliability of the system which has been designed by your retailer and is installed by your installer at your home. A CEC-approved solar retailer is generally the one that has signed the Clean Energy Council Solar Retailer Code of Conduct and assures quality, builds, and performance of the solar panel system. Their main aim is to provide higher standards of service and performance than the minimum criteria that are issued by the government.

As of 23rd April 2020, there is a total number of 1240 CEC-approved solar retailers across Australia. The approvals are granted only after a detailed auditing and proper inspection process. Once the council is convinced by the quality and services according to the established standards, they grant the approvals. The best advantage of getting a solar system through a Clean Energy Council accredited retailer is that it assures the system design and quality as well. Hence, there will be fewer problems in its service in future. The code involves all the strict rules and regulation that complies with pre and post-sale services, documentation and other operational practices.

In the pre-sale service phase, a Clean Energy Council-accredited retailer will:

  • Make sure that all sales representatives of the solar systems always stay loyal and follow the company’s ethics and principles.
  • Never get indulge in any tall claims or false advertising and sales related tactics.
  • Furnish all the necessary information before the customer signs the contract, so as to facilitate a complete understanding of their purchase and everything it involves.

In the post-sale service phase, a Clean Energy Council-accredited retailer will:

  • Acknowledges and respect all the legal rights regarding the cooling-off period, refunds, and more, which often includes your right to cancel the contract and get a full refund just in case if any changes are made to the contract, and are yet not communicated in writing after entering into the contract.
  • Provide you with a standard 5-year minimum warranty period in terms of your solar system’s performance, also including workmanship faults.
  • Addresses any challenges that are faced by the client.
  • Either provide you with complete information of the whole process installation and the network connection or will undertake it themselves on your behalf without bothering you.

With reference to the documentation and general operational practices, a Clean Energy Council-accredited retailer will:

  • Provide you with the complete set of all required documents related to post-installation.
  • Comply with all laws and regulations associated with it.
  • Assist you with any problems/complaints that you may have, which includes setting up cancellation procedures as well.
  • Takes full responsibility for the actions of subcontract parties like CEC-accredited installers.
  • Maintain transparency in approach to address the complaints, ensuring a response within 21 days of complaint made by the customer. CEC accreditation is granted to all solar retailers after a detailed process of verification and assurance. After all, solar is a big investment and it requires proper verification to ensure the best service. The CEC-approved makes sure that it pays the worth very well.
